Bill Nettles served as President Obama’s United States Attorney for the District of South Carolina for six and half years.
During this time he shifted the focus of the criminal division from federally prosecuting drug offenses to focusing on white collar and public corruption. As one of the most progressive United States Attorneys in the country he was responsible for starting federal drug and re-entry programs in all the federal courts in South Carolina and implemented many community policing models. In June 2016 Bill left the US Attorney’s office to form his own litigation firm. Bill is currently engaged in helping to obtain passage of the bipartisan medical marijuana bill that has been introduced in South Carolina.
